Members of DVFC, Level Volunteer Fire Company, Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company and Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company responded to a smoke investigation. Large amounts of smoke were seen in the Tucker Road area of Street, MD. Chief 6 was in the area and arrived first to determine there was approximately 2 acres of woods on fire. Engine 911, Chief 9 and Utility 902 arrived and began efforts to stop the spread of the fire. The fire spread was stopped quickly with onboard water from Engine 911. Additional water was obtained from Engine 313 and Tanker 1. Several brush trucks were supplied from Engine 911 for final extinguishment and mop up of smoldering debris in the burned area. The cause of the fire appears to be an unattended "controlled burn."
Operations were concluded on scene after approximately an hour and a half.
The community is reminded to burn safely: only burn when the weather allows, never leave a controlled burn unattended and to follow all
regulations regarding open air burning.
