During a monthly training exercise on Monday May 12, 2025 members of DVFC completed RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) training to rescue a downed firefighter. In this drill, firefighters were wearing full gear and utilizing air from their SCBA as they would on a structure fire. To simulate a smoke filled environment, SCBA masks were obscured with a film covering effectively eliminating visual cues. Working in 2 person teams, the object of this training was to enter the building and follow a search line to locate the downed firefighter (a dummy was used for this training). The exercise concluded when the teams successfully supplied the downed firefighter with breathing air.
