The Fire Section

The main section of DVFC, the Fire Section is made up of Firefighters and Officers tasked with responding to Emergencies involving:

For initial entry into the Fire Section new members undergo a “prebasic” course at DVFC to introduce them to DVFC operations, apparatus, equipment locations, Fireground procedures and other skills necessary for them to be able to ride apparatus and respond to emergencies safely. While not considered Firefighters yet, individuals who complete pre-basic are able to respond and provide assistance on emergency calls.

To be considered a Firefighter and a full member of the Fire Section, Members must complete:

  • Firefighter I or higher
  • Advanced First Aid (EMT or First Responder preferred)
  • Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Assigned FEMA ICS online courses

Many additional training classes and specializations are available after completion of the above basic classes. All training is provided free of charge.
