Units from DVFC responded to Emory Church Rd in Street Maryland to assist the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company with a large brush fire reported to be threatening structures . On November 5th at approximately 11:30pm Utility 9-1, Brush 9, Engine 911 and Chief 9 responded. An estimated 5 acres were burning upon arrival of the first units and the fire was spreading due to high winds and dry conditions. Utility 9-1 and Brush 9 responded to the scene and assisted suppression and cleanup efforts. Engine 911 and Chief 9 setup a draft site on Cherry Hill Road and established a water supply for the incident. The fire was contained and hotspots eventually extinguished. Ultimately units from Company 9 were committed approximately 4 hours. Multiple units from Harford County and Pennsylvania responded to this incident. The fire is believed to be the result of a poorly contained controlled burn Maryland Forestry and other Law Enforcement agencies are investigating this fire.
