Whiteford House Fire

On Thursday, November 20th members of DVFC responded along with several neighboring departments to a house fire in Whiteford on Prospect Road. Engine 913 and Air 9 responded. The call was initially dispatched as a fire alarm. The first arriving unit determined there was fire in the basement. The fire quickly spread up the rear side of the house and through void spaces inside the house, which made it difficult to find and fight the source. Firefighters were forced to evacuate the structure several times. After several hours the fire was eventually extinguished, however the house was destroyed. The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office is investigating this incident.
